Bernard Tétu has joined together with stage director Jean Lacornerie and Gérard Lecointe and his Percussions Claviers de Lyon to evoke love, humanity and good cheer in a journey to the deliciously imaginary lands of Offenbach. Life in the land of Offenbach is a whirlwind cascade of magic transformations, a giddy gallop that breaks through starched, stiff traditions. On stage, gaiety, humour, poetry, laughter and smiles burst out and explode in onomatopoeia, soldierly verses, tender duets, Bacchic choruses and marvellously comical airs: champagne for everybody!
The Percussions lead the dance with their boisterous mallets, intensifying the galloping cancans. They are veritable characters in the lyrical plot who play for the pleasure of our ears and our eyes. Here, the recurrent themes are musical obsessions, variations, echoes and colorful images that spring from self-mocking mirrors that beautifully conceal the truth with exquisite politeness.
